Follow up and managing

I went back to Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday of last week. After updating Dr. L on what occurred last month he reviewed all of the testing from the day and feels that it was just a one time flare up and I don’t seem to have had any permanent decline. Of course, the prednisone has made me gain the few pounds that I had lost and now I am back over the BMI cutoff. BUT I don’t need listed right now so hopefully the Mounjaro will help with that. I’ve only taken two weekly shots so far and have two more to go before I go up in the dosage. I’m not doing a very good job with a diabetic diet yet, not near enough protein. That will need to be a day by day goal.

I already have my next appointments lined up and have to go for two days in August. Dr. L wants to repeat a heart cath, it’s been a year since I had the one that confirmed the pulmonary hypertension. At this point I believe that it too is about the same. I guess we will find out for sure in August. I’m not really looking forward to it but I understand why it needs done.

My prednisone is down to 10 mg daily and so my blood sugars have been quite a bit better. At least they are under 200 now for the most part. I’m still taking insulin daily. I will be interested to see if this will need to continue after I’m done with the prednisone.

For fun, I’ve gone to a couple of local concerts, taken the grandkids to the $1 morning movies, went to a tea parlor for afternoon tea with a coworker and both of my sisters individually (personally I think the tea parlor needs to offer me an ambassador job, haha), met with a few other coworkers for a meal and good conversation and used my son’s pool.

My biggest obstacle right now is short term disability. I’m currently waiting for them to review my case for additional payments. I don’t understand why they constantly need updates on a medical condition that has no cure and is progressive. And I don’t understand why they need updates when I’ve already been approved by the government for social security disability starting next month and even they don’t expect to review the case for the next 5-7 YEARS! It’s just frustrating.

The short term disability qualification makes no sense when you are already qualified for longterm disability. Is the short term through your job or Medicare or what?
